ACC Conference-Only Tempo-Free Stats

That's a headline that screams exciting, gripping writing. Anyway, on to the numbers:

Duke's offense has picked up in January. The Blue Devils were last in the ACC in points per possession going in to January, and third from last nine days ago. They're still playing slow, untraditionally Duke ball, but they could still threaten for the conference title if they start picking it up on this end of the ball.

And now that I think of it, Virginia is quietly becoming quite good in conference, without anybody noticing, aren't they?

For all the talk of Duke's admittedly impressive defense, note than in-conference North Carolina's defense is actually better. Part of that is a ridiculous defensive rebounding advantage, but the Heels are solid across the board.

Florida State, alas, is not. Which explains why such a potent offense can be tied to a 3-4 ACC record.

Team 3FGA/A 3FG % Virginia Tech 0.410 0.367 Wake Forest 0.355 0.329 NC State 0.341 0.345 Miami 0.321 0.308 Georgia Tech 0.320 0.339 Florida State 0.308 0.410 Clemson 0.304 0.359 Duke 0.295 0.336 Boston College 0.287 0.333 Maryland 0.269 0.340 North Carolina 0.249 0.326 Virginia 0.218 0.392

The second and third best three-point shooting teams in the conference are the teams that shoot the most and fewest shots from behind the arc, respectively. And both teams are from Virginia. I'm sure this fact is crucial to understanding the ACC, but I have absolutely no idea what it means.
