Open Conference Season
Yes, we're already four games into the ACC basketball season, thanks to the Fox Sports Sunday TV deal, but to me the conference season doesn't begin in earnest until the New Year. Florida State and Clemson play their first ACC games tonight, after which only Duke (Saturday) and UNC (Sunday) will have yet to play a league game. With that in mind, it's a good time to take one last look at the tempo-adjusted stats for the season:
Team Pace North Carolina 76.6 Maryland 74.6 Wake Forest 73.0 Virginia 73.0 Georgia Tech 72.6 Florida St. 69.8 Clemson 68.3 Boston College 67.9 Miami FL 67.0 North Carolina St. 66.7 Virginia Tech 65.8 Duke 64.3

I tried to post to The Power of K post, but it
Is it the same as when I bash Brett Favre? You bash him because he is your greatest rival, or do you really hold some type of grudge against him?
Seriously, take away the awards that are bothering you and his numbers to stack up favorably to any other active coach you might want to through out.

On K
wouldn't let me,
Yeah, that's the new spam-fighting procedure we've installed. It's done more to reduce the stuff than anything else we've tried, but it dsoes hinder the occasional conversation.
but just so I can get an idea of what type of site this is, what is the reason for the Coach K bashing?
A lot of it is because of the rivalry. I'm going to hate anyone who sits at the end of that bench. The fact that he's been incredibly successful there is galling from that rivalry point of view, but it doesn't mean I can't appreciate that success and the skill behind it. But part of it's just a consequence of the modern sports media, who with way too much airtime to fill is going to lionize a fair number of people, and Krzyzewski, in his corporate, sell-aggrandizing way is right in the middle of it. So yes, take away those awards and the constant praise for every little thing and he does still have one of ther best list of accomplishments of any active coach - so why does he need those undeserved awards as well?
Many coaches go out and win with the same exacting academic standards as Duke but don't expect the praise for it. Many coaches teach without cutting dramatically lit American Express commercials about it. Many coaches actually coach their players, and not the officials during a game.
The most succinct expression of my Krzyzewski dislike, and the general comparison between the Duke and Carolina way of thinking, was a quick blurb I first put up on my other blog:
Fair enough!
