What the heck is going on?

I know Drew was probably mad he lost his starting job, but to transfer mid season?? That is just ridiculous. So now the program has lost both the Wear twins and Drew to transfers in the past year. What is going on with Ole Roy?

And I’ve always been a person who wanted Drew to see less minutes, but losing him just kills the PG depth. I think this information is too fresh for me to figure out who I’m mad at. I’m mad at Drew for bailing and leaving the team like this. I’m mad at Roy for the struggles the past 2 seasons have had. And I’m mad because Duke just keeps plugging along while UNC looks like a mess…..

If we had another point guard to back Marshall up it wouldnt be that big of a deal. But losing him means we lose depth, something we will need against the Dukies

I feel bad for him

I haven’t heard about him being a locker room distraction or anything negative like that. He isn’t as good as the PGs that preceded him, but I still valued his presence on the team. I really think this decision had more to do with other things outside of basketball. I mean he only has one year of eligibility left. He would have to sit out a year to play at another D1 school. Is he going to transfer to Winston Salem St. or Johnson C. Smith? There is no way in hell Roy is going to let him play for another in-state school or a school that is on Carolina’s schedule.

This is sad news. I really hope he isn’t battling depression. God knows that Heels’ fans have given the kid hell. Some of that hell was justifiable, but I think we forgot sometimes that these guys are still young adults. Drew may not have been emotionally and mentally strong enough to handle his detractors.

I Hadn't Even Considered Depression

and you’re right; I hope it’s nothing like that. He’s been playing well and saying all the right things in interviews, but it’s tough to really know what’s going on in somebody’s head.

If he had medical issues, he would quit, not transfer

the fact he announced he would transfer means this has nothing to do with things outside of basketball.
