Game Thread: Wake Forest

North Carolina Tar Heels at Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Feb 27, 2010 2:00 PM EST

You may look at Wake and say, "8-5? This is doable." Unfortunately, all five of those losses are on the road; Wake is undefeated in conference at home. They've only won two ACC games outside of Lawrence Joel. One of those was the 13 point win in Chapel Hill. Expect UNC to score less than Williams' blood pressure. Diastolic, even.

Wake

Is starting with the tried and true strategy of beating up on the bigs on defense and going for quick 3’s on offense. It’s getting McFarland in foul trouble early, though.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 2:20 PM EST reply actions

McDonald

Has really picked up his defense. Hadn’t noticed that before.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 2:30 PM EST reply actions

Whats up guys

I’m here. Watched the combine for 4.5 hours so i figured I’m already drinking might as well keep this party going.

Tweets

Did you get my tweets on Jolly? He didn’t do so great but after EJ, Cam and Aleric go Monday I’ll have a write up on the four of them plus I’m interviewing EJ for the podcast

I Saw a Couple of Them

Sounds like Jimmy Graham was doing pretty well, too.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 2:34 PM EST up reply actions

Love him

I absolutely love the guy. Fluid athlete. He was adopted, thats why he didn’t play football.

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

basketball

In basketball news, after halftime I’m going to try this unc drinking game, care to play?

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 2:33 PM EST reply actions

I'm at a Bar

And am pretty sure I couldn’t afford a UNC drinking game. What are the rules?

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 2:35 PM EST up reply actions

After halftime

I’m going to play the game.

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 2:43 PM EST up reply actions

That game would kill me. Although, I only have to walk home…

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 2:57 PM EST up reply actions

There Have Been Some Great Plays

Like McDonald’s baseline drive or Henson’s flip pass to Zeller, that have resulted in exactly zero points.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 2:33 PM EST reply actions

Amazing How the Inside Opens Up

Without McFarland. Also, Williams for Wake is trying to do way too much.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 2:42 PM EST reply actions

McDonald

Wow he’s getting a lot of minutes. Why has this not been happening before?

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 2:49 PM EST reply actions

His offensive play is about the same, so I’d guess he’s really stepped it up on defense. He’s been matched up with Smith a lot, right?

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 2:53 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

Which is odd I thought Strickland would be playing him

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 3:05 PM EST up reply actions

So many soft shots from Thompson, all falling short

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:10 PM EST reply actions

too many rules

I’m just going to drink at a fast rate instead of try to play this game. I need a teammate who knows the rules to be successful.

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 3:19 PM EST reply actions

The Moment

Thompson was stripped by Williams going up for a layup, I knew you were screwed.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:21 PM EST up reply actions

hahaha very true. I am still

drinking every turnover, every airball, every ginyard shot etc.

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 3:24 PM EST reply actions

Better Than Every Time Ginyard Hits the Floor

Especially since he’s not diving, just being thrown there by Wake players.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:27 PM EST up reply actions

I almost choked

When it looked like he was going to spot up for that three pointer

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

UNC Does Pretty Well

When they don’t let Wake have 15 shots on a single possession.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:25 PM EST reply actions

Dan Bonner

Is so nice to us. He’s really glossing over the problems with this team.

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 3:28 PM EST reply actions

What the Hell was that?

What was that? Is he tired? That was pathetic

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 3:33 PM EST reply actions

I'm Hoping

It just slipped out of his hands. Even Henson looked shocked; he’s trying to make it up though.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:37 PM EST up reply actions

Graves on Aminu?

That seems like a mismatch to me

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 3:38 PM EST reply actions

Without Zeller or Thompson

Who better to put on him though?

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:40 PM EST up reply actions

Young Kid

Oh my god the young kid is playing. With McDonald in the line up Henson is showing emotion. They actually look happy this is crazy

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 3:38 PM EST reply actions

I haven’t seen Henson this thrilled, well, ever. If they get this on the road, it could change the team’s entire demeanor.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:40 PM EST up reply actions

Good 3 From Graves

On a possession that was rapidly spinning out of control for UNC.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:44 PM EST reply actions

Wait, That Was a Foul?

All I did was elbow a guy in the throat and throw him to the ground. How is that a foul?

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:47 PM EST reply actions

I Think McDonald's Fauxhawk

Buys him a five foot radius. The Wake defenders are frightened by it.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 3:58 PM EST reply actions

Ginyard

Bobbles the pass, then makes last contact before it goes out of bounds. Dumb.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 4:05 PM EST reply actions

2-9

wow Drew that is awful

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 4:07 PM EST reply actions

2-9

wow Drew that is awful

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 4:07 PM EST reply actions

They Finally Pulled Him

Not that Strickland is doing much better.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 4:11 PM EST up reply actions

Nice to See

Another team with a serious cold shooting streak.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 4:12 PM EST reply actions

apparently we're not going

to see a tsunami today

Yeah BoYeeEEeeE

by InTheBleachers on Feb 27, 2010 4:12 PM EST reply actions

Roy Williams

Looks like the least happiest coach to break a losing streak I’ve ever seen.

by T.H. on Feb 27, 2010 4:15 PM EST reply actions
