Pick Your Poison

Which quote depresses you the most? (All quotes from Inside Carolina's transcript of postgame audio.)

Coach Williams:

How infectious are the problems?

"Well, they are infectious, but my gosh, how can we go any lower? Be honest, how can it be any worse than it is right now? So you've got to put all that 'Woe is me' nonsense out of the way, and you've got to put all that nonsense about feeling sorry for yourself out of the way and you've got to play basketball."

Larry Drew:

Is the heart there in the locker room?

"Right now it's not. As of right now everybody is just pretty flat and not really showing a lot of emotion. And it's carrying out onto the court. At halftime the locker room was pretty dead and we were only down by five points. We've just got to bring it. We talk a lot, but it's time for us to start showing it."

Deon Thompson:

What now? What different things can you do?

"That's a great question. I'm pretty sure Coach will be up all night figuring out what's next and I'll be up all night. I mean, I've got four more homes games after this ... I really don't know what's next."

Marcus Ginyard:

Coach Williams is expressing his frustration that the different things he's trying aren't working. What are some of those things that aren't working?

"Everything. There's nothing really working right now. We just can't get it going on a consistent basis - that's what's frustrating for him."

It's getting harder and harder for me to watch the Heels

I actually found myself watching some of the Pro Bowl yesterday.

We Own the Night

I fell asleep watching “We Own The Night” on FX. Each of these quotes is disturbing on their own but when they all come as the collective voice it leaves me almost speechless.

No one has answers, there doesn’t appear to be much resolve or testicular fortitude raining down from the staff or players. Its frustrating as hell to get the sense that this team is just ready to get to the offseason, at least that’s how it seems.

On the good news front, Heels spring game on ESPN, plus national signing day just 2 days away.

dreadful

This team is just downright dreadful right now. Roy’s rotations are still a disaster. Enough Ginyard…enough already. Jesus christ. Play Strickland. He is the only one with some spark and able to get to the rim. I cringe whenever Drew gets in the lane. He was throwing passes at light speed at people’s necks last night. The play around the rim right now is a joke. Hardly any offensive rebounds and on the defensive end they are letting up so many easy putbacks. Their set offense is putrid. If I see Travis Wear take another 3 this year I’m going to go postal. Work the ball around and get some motion going for christ sake. If you told me at the beginning of the year that at this point in the season Will Graves would be your most reliable offensive player I’d tell you that this team sucks. And right now they suck.

NIT

I don’t see any way around the NIT. Not because we’re 76 in the RPI, but we’re just not very good. It’s amazing that this is the same team the played so well against Ohio State and Michigan earlier in the season.

The teams is suffering from a crisis in confidence. Last night was a nightmare. At one point Davis missed 4 FTs in a row. Virginia players would march down the court and stand wide open and we only bothered to pay attention when it was too late.

This season I’m reminded how lucky we were the last time we lost so many players.

Unwatchable

As a life-long Carolina basketball fanatic, I am officially done with this year’s team, after giving them another chance against a VERY mediocre Virginia team. I cannot watch this train wreck and maintain any semblance of mental health. I’m not the smartest man on the planet, but I can recognize little things and wonder why they aren’t easily recognized by the HEAD COACH. When something DOESN’T WORK for five or six games, why not try something else? WHY is Ginyard still getting minutes? WHY does Ed Davis act as if he could give a rats ass whether he’s playing basketball or playing with himself? WHY does Larry Drew get more time than Dexter Strickland? If I was Harrison Barnes or P.J. Hairston, I would be wondering right now if I made a huge mistake. ROY WILLIAMS IS NOT THE ANSWER, FOLKS.
