Slimeballs
I’d have to disagree with the “slimeball” factor of Orgeron and Kiffykins. Willis is an elite talent that would definitely help USC’s defense. UCLA and UNC didn’t stop recruiting him when he committed to Tennessee so why would Kiffin stop?
Overall its a dirty practice and having the benefit of seeing a lot of recruiting from the recruit angle, on-campus host angle and through the eyes of a coach I think the people upset with this are overreacting. If I’m a kid being recruited I want to play defense for Kiffin, not Cutcliffe.

If Willis wasn’t an early enrollee, I wouldn’t make a big deal about this, but considering he was hours away from going to UT and nearly being locked in there, and hearing just hours before the news broke from Eddie O. about how lucky he was to have him coming to UT, that to me is just an example of how crazy (and to some degree shady) the world of FB and BB recruiting in the NCAAs.
But as far as a player picking a coach vs. a program, that’s a whole other issue unto itself. Thankfully Willis’ parents were a good sounding board and were willing to do what their son and they all felt was best for them, beyond the sales pitch of some coach who packed his bags when another job came along. I feel for the guys who committed to UT and won’t be released from their scholarship because of the Chancellor and AD being too stubborn to worry about the best interest of the kids.
