Game Thread: Albany
Albany, N.Y. Great Danes at North Carolina Tar Heels, Dec 30, 2009 7:00 PM EST
Albany is 4-9 against an Albany-worthy schedule; UNC has been running two-a-days to work out Roy Williams' frustrations. This will not be pretty.

Why does nobody ever post here???
"My team of nine guys who hit like Albert Pujols and never ever bunt just beat your team with one Shane Victorino 472 to 3."

You mean over the last few days? Because I took a couple days off over the holiday, as the Albany game disgusted me so much I’ll either write about it in contrast with the Charleston game or just let loose all at once. If you mean why no one ever comments, well, it’s because I’m really, really, bad at this. Ask anyone.
Either way, I’ll be around for the CoC game, and there will be an open thread.
No, no. I am not talking about you. I think you post a decent amount of stories and stuff. I am talking about fans. I am an active member of a couple of these blogs, and we get hundreds of comments per day, but I never see any fans commenting or debating around here.
I know, I am just as guilty as the next person. I am just wondering why there seems to be a lack of participation around here.

I post a bit on IC . Rivals tends to get a fair amount of posters as well. So does CWC and other more established websites (accboards, etc.).
There’s a bit of competition out there, but I personally check the blog regularly since he covers both football and basketball with a tip of the hat to the other sports and does a good job of it.
Keep up the good analysis, TH.
I'm At Least Somewhat Serious About Just Not Being That Good
There’s definitely a skill involved in building an online community, and it’s never been my strongest suit. So that’s part of it.
In a more general sense, UNC fans did get on the internet early, and have both a good official athletic site, as well as Rivals, and the venerable Inside Carolina. So there’s never been much of a need for fans to migrate from message boards to blogs. (Duke is similar in this regard – Duke blogs are really few and far between.) Couple that with a general happiness with the team and the athletic department, so you don’t get situation like State where everyone’s looking for somewhere to really gripe about what’s going wrong, and there’s not as big of an audience as you’ll find for a lot of teams around here.
Or at least that’s what I tell myself.
I know that the Atlanta Braves SBN blog that I am an active member of advertises on FB and links all of his stories and stuff to that. It also makes a big difference, I guess, that there are a ton more roster moves and speculations going on in sports like baseball…

Good point justin. Plus the equivalent would be having to follow every recruiting story for the football, bball, and other sports and to be honest, that’s one of those things you either really like, or really hate. Following the whims of 17 and 18 year olds is not easy, and especially in football, can change like the wind. It’s why it’s a whole separate entity in and of itself.
