North Carolina Tar Heels at Texas Longhorns, Dec 19, 2009 2:00 PM EST

Funny story. I was at the second round tournament games in Greensboro last season, and the UNC-LSU game was followed by Duke-Texas. It was amazing how many UNC fans pulled off shirts to reveal Texas gear underneath. I would not expect that today. Rev up the Rick Barnes hate!

Dexter Pittman Already Tired

And Texas isn’t even trying to push it into the post very much. The Longhorns want pull-up jumpers early.

Way Too Many Texas Offensive Rebounds

And now they’re beginning to find the interior pass.

No Way Pittman

Should have gotten to that missed free throw for the rebound. Turned a UNC possession into a Texas three.

Sexy

(Good game so far)

You ain't hurt.

Horrible Final Thirty Seconds

Especially after UNC had two stops that went out-of-bounds on that possession. Six point swing from just carelessness. 13 point deficit at the half.

Both teams came out kind of cold, and now all of a sudden Texas is on pace for 108?? Crazy.

The size has been an issue and some of the usual stupid turnovers for the Heels. Transistion defense continues to be something UNC looks terrible at. Nobody stops ball ever. Texas is also deep enough to give fouls and are making UNC earn points from the line. Gotta shoot better than 50% from the stripe to beat a top team.

I won’t be shocked if UNC can get back in this game, but I won’t be shocked if they end up losing by 30 either. The first 2-3 minutes after the half UNC needs to control the ball and keep Texas from getting so many easy buckets.

Yeah, the free throw performance is wounding UNC. And then the Longhorns’ offensive rebounding is delivering the fatal blow.

That's really what I've seen out of UNC so far this year.

Teams they are bigger and faster than, they bully and beat. But when they don’t have a dominant physical advantage they can’t overcome their poor execution and fundamental deficiencies.

by CUNKNNK on Dec 19, 2009 3:23 PM EST up reply actions

But every time they get over that hump, they go and do something stupid.

Strickland’s coming on strong, too. Good thing he’s healthy to play.

he seems to do much better at the two-guard spot, should play him and drew together more often, or have ginyard handle the point position when strickland is in.

UT is going to be a lot better by year end when they have Jai Lucas rolling.

Balbay is their weak spot. The guy has shot so badly this year he doesn’t even look to shoot anymore. I remember Jai in the McD’s AA game a few years back and he’ll be a good player once he gets more time.

Your boys do fight hard in the second halves of these games.

I just wonder if it is going to be another just miss. Too little too late again. At least it isn’t a blowout.

Against Kentucky It Was Three Points

and today it’s four – the Heels fight all the way back and then just go completely stupid. Even Ginyard.

This offensive rebounding thing is mindblowing.

If you’d have told me the major edge was going to be there I’d have never believed it. I’d have guessed FT’s or fast break points, but never getting embarrassed on the glass.

Thanks again TH. Sorry didn't go your way today man. They'll learn some things from this game.

See you come ACC time.

Hope we can beat Gonzaga today. I’m a little scared honestly because the Plumlees aren’t taking over quite yet, and we need them to so we can get Zoubek on the bench where he belongs. Hard to win with nothing inside, and it’s looked rough since Wisconsin.
