Marcus Ginyard Out Eight Weeks

The basketball team won't start the season quite as talent-loaded as expected, as the senior defensive specialist will miss at least eight weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot. That estimate would return him to playing time around the post-exam cupcake portion f the schedule, but naturally, these things are always hard to predict this far out.

Coincidentally, two Tar Heel alumni are also out with injuries, as Brendan Haywood missed the preseason opener with a ligament tear in his wrist in training camp (out 4 to 6 weeks) and Antawn Jamison went down last night with a right knee contusion. Jamison should be ready for the season opener.

(Tonight may not be the best night for me to go running a the rate UNC grads are dropping, come to think of it.)

Well if we can get him back at full strength before the ACC portion of the schedule begins then it won’t hurt too bad. We will need him at full speed for the great D he can provide during Tourney time.
