Parking at Kenan Stadium
I am heading up this weekend for the UNC vs bc game and was wondering what is the best location to park. I am not looking to tailgate but would love to see the Campus and other points of interest within walking distance. Is there parking garages that are on campus that are within a few minutes walking distance?? Also is there a location that is fun and exciting for a 16 year old to visit?? any advise will be helpful.

It depends on your schedule. The easiest thing to do is to park in one of the park and ride lots – the Friday Center if you’re coming from 54, University Mall if you’re coming from 15-501 – and taking the shuttle, which will drop you off in the heart of campus, by the student store and near the main quad filled with Tar Heel Town, the standard pregame festivities. Of course, the shuttles only run for so long after the game, so that limits what you can do afterward.
If you’re parking on campus without a permit, most folks have found the Cardinal Lot to be the easiest. It’s southwest of the stadium, which is in turn south of the main part of campus. Campus is bordered on the north by Franklin Street, which is the main social drag for Chapel Hill. More parking information than you can possibly want is available here, including maps as to where all these lots are. The main scenic points of interest are between Franklin Street and the Bell Tower. Of course, if you’re a basketball fan, there’s the Smith Center on the south of campus and the adjoining basketball museum, which should be open on game days.
As to what to do as a 16 year-old, it’s been too long since I was one to really know. Anybody have any thoughts?
